Inside Blacksmith Cottage: A Room-by-Room Guide to Your Staffordshire Stay
There are holiday homes you book because they tick all the right boxes.
And then there are the ones where you start mentally unpacking before you've even arrived.
Blacksmith Cottage is a little bit of both.
Set within the Staffordshire countryside, this four-bedroom cottage has been created around the idea that a great stay isn't just about having somewhere to sleep. It's about the spaces in between, slow mornings, long lunches, evenings that stretch on, and having enough room to spend time together without being on top of one another.
So, rather than giving you another list of everything the cottage has to offer, we thought we'd take you inside.
Come in.
The Kitchen
Every good stay starts with the kitchen.
Blacksmith Cottage's open-plan kitchen is designed to be practical without losing that feeling of being somewhere special. What makes this space particularly lovely is how it flows directly into the orangery and snug, creating one large, sociable area where everyone can be together while still enjoying different parts of the space.
At the centre, a log burner is cleverly fitted into the dividing wall, allowing the warmth to travel through all three areas. It's particularly lovely on colder days when you want the whole space to feel cosy.
There's a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, double oven, air fryer, coffee machine and drinks fridge, so whether you're preparing breakfast together, putting together a big family meal or simply making a cup of coffee, everything you need is close at hand.
It's a kitchen designed for cooking, chatting and lingering.
The kitchen is yours.
The fridge is yours.
The Living Room
After a day of exploring, or perhaps after full stomachs from a lovely meal at the pub next door, the living room is somewhere to properly settle in.
With comfortable seating, a 55-inch Smart TV, sound system and its own log burner, it's a cosy space for slower moments, whether that's settling down for a film, listening to music or simply putting your feet up and enjoying the warmth of the fire.
There's no need to have a plan.
Just get comfortable and stay there.
The Snug
Then there's the snug.
A little more intimate, a little more tucked away, and complete with a log burner, it's the room you might find yourself gravitating towards when you want somewhere quieter.
A book. A glass of something. A conversation that carries on long after everyone else has moved on.
It's a small space, but sometimes those are the spaces you remember most.
The Orangery
If the kitchen is the heart of the house, the orangery might just be where the memories happen.
Flooded with natural light and looking out towards the garden, the orangery-style dining room gives everyone a reason to sit down together.
Long breakfasts.
Lazy lunches.
Dinner that starts at seven and somehow turns into an evening.
And when you're staying with children, it's also the perfect spot for a little family competition, a board game around the table, a pack of cards, or one of those games that starts innocently enough and somehow gets very competitive.
It's made for sharing food, opening another bottle, playing games and having the sort of conversations you rarely get time for at home.
And we're not the only ones who think so. One of our recent guests told us they loved sitting and socialising in the orangery during their stay.
We can see why.
Four Bedrooms, Plenty of Space
When you're travelling as a group, having enough space matters.
Blacksmith Cottage has four bedrooms, three king rooms and one twin, plus two additional sofa beds, meaning the cottage can accommodate up to 10 guests when two guests are happy to sleep on the sofa beds.
Each bedroom has its own Smart TV, ceiling fan and hairdryer, with two modern shower rooms serving the house.
That makes the cottage particularly flexible for families and groups. Perhaps the grandparents take one of the king rooms, the children share the twin, and two of the group are perfectly happy to claim the sofa beds.
Everyone gets their own space when they want it, while the shared areas bring everyone back together.
Because sometimes it's not about having a bedroom each, it's about having everyone under one roof.
Out Into the Garden
And then, of course, there's outside.
The garden at Blacksmith Cottage is a big part of the experience, particularly when the Staffordshire skies decide to put on a show.
There's space to sit, eat, relax and simply enjoy being outside, with a firepit for those longer evenings and plenty of room for the whole group.
Whether it's a bright summer afternoon or a crisp autumn evening, you might find yourself with a drink in hand and absolutely no intention of going anywhere.
And honestly?
Why would you?
Two Hot Tubs
Then there are the two hot tubs.
Because one simply wasn't enough.
Set beneath all-weather pergolas, they're available throughout the year, making them just as tempting when the temperature drops as they are during the warmer months.
There's something rather lovely about stepping outside into the crisp Staffordshire air, sinking into warm, bubbling water and watching the steam rise around you.
Perhaps it's an evening soak after a day exploring.
Perhaps it's a lazy morning before breakfast.
Or perhaps you're the person who announces, "I'm just going in for ten minutes," and is still there an hour later.
No judgement here.
Two hot tubs means more room to relax, more conversations to have and fewer arguments over whose turn it is.
A Stay for Four-Legged Guests Too
We don't think dogs should have to miss out.
Up to four dogs can join you at Blacksmith Cottage, with a secure garden, dog bowls and towels provided.
There are countryside walks nearby too, so your four-legged companion can enjoy a proper holiday rather than simply being tolerated.
Because watching a dog discover a new garden is quite possibly one of the nicest parts of taking them away with you.
The Little Things
It's easy to focus on the big features when choosing somewhere to stay.
Two hot tubs.
Four bedrooms.
A beautiful garden.
An orangery.
But often it's the smaller details that make somewhere feel like you've chosen the right place.
A properly equipped kitchen.
A comfortable bed.
A room where you can escape for a little while.
Somewhere to sit outside in the evening.
A house that gives everyone enough space without ever feeling impersonal.
That's what we've tried to create at Blacksmith Cottage.
Not simply a property filled with facilities, but a place that feels good to spend time in.
More Than Just a Place to Stay
You could count the bedrooms.
You could list the facilities.
You could tick off the hot tubs, the garden, the kitchen and the living spaces.
But that's not really what a stay at Blacksmith Cottage is about.
It's the first coffee of the morning.
It's everyone gathered around the orangery table.
It's a quiet moment in the snug.
It's sitting outside while the sun goes down.
It's the dogs exploring the garden.
It's sinking into the hot tub and realising nobody has checked the time in hours.
It's having nowhere else you need to be.
And perhaps that's what makes Blacksmith Cottage more than just a place to stay.
It's somewhere to spend time together.
And somewhere to make memories.
